Writing by hand should be a wave of the future rather than a thing of the past

Why write a hand-written note?

#♥%@?! because...

1. It's the right thing to do! Yes, I know it sometimes seems that manners are teetering on the edge of extinction and an emoji can do the duty of a sincerely expressed sentiment. But lets face it, we all LOVE to receive a beautiful hand written note more than a heart-eyed emoji.. Am I right?!

2.  It sets you apart.  Probably one of the easiest things you can do as a friend or professional is to write thank you notes. It makes you stand out & makes you appear more polished.

3. Handwritten letters perpetuate a very important part of our culture. There is something about writing (not typing) that allows you to dig deep inside your soul for the right words and express yourself, without spell check or auto-correct questioning every word you type..

4. IT'S FUN! Seriously, yes it takes a little more effort, but who wouldn't want a lovely hand written note? And when you find cute & spunky mini cards like Karen Adams, Pardon My French (Pictured) you just can't help yourself!

Market Buying Trip...Part Two!

Monday, July 24, 2017 11:13 AM

Day Three

Day Three - It Started With Lots Of Chocolate.

We ate a lot this morning...we did our usual Corner Bakery breakfast, with about 100 other buyers. Then we hit the Gourmet Food section, where we loaded up on Saxon Chocolate. For all you Pop Sensation fans (we sold out last year in 2 days) we ordered the new large tin! We also revisited a line we carried about 6 years ago called Et Al Designs for some sparkling holiday candles.

Our favorite find of the day was a new line called Santa Barbara Design Studio. They produce a fun line of washable paper bags. The line also includes fun pens and novelty jewelry. Barb and Mary have been wearing their Joy tie bracelets ever since!

Another great find was the Chavez for Charity line of bracelets. The jewelry is cool and fun, but even better 25% of the profit goes directly to a number of charities. This new line is already here!

We finished the day with lots of spring buying at Raz Imports, Sullivans, Bethany Lowe and K&K Interiors.

Day Four - Clothes, Clothes And More Clothes.

Mary left us early that morning (sorry I booked you such an early flight). Today Barb and I spent the morning adding to our clothing selections. We could not resist anything cashmere. Our first appointment was at In Cashmere and we added lots of great selections for holiday parties and gifts.

Watch out for new Luii clothing coming in August. The jackets were awesome this season.

The highlight of our day was a new line called Tyler Boe (which you might have seen in resort areas like Newport and Long Island). This fresh look is from a New York based designer and will be a great addition to our store. We can't wait for it to start arriving in mid-August.

Day Five - Odds And Ends

It was our last day and we needed to clean up a few odds and end. We did a great order at Samoe Style. They have some great new bags for fall which should arrive in late September.

We also took a few hours to just check other showrooms for trends.

Overall it was a great market and we have already started to receive our orders! Stop by often over the next two months to see what is new.

Market Buying Trip Was A Huge Success!

Monday, July 17, 2017 11:11 AM

Day One - It Was A Jam Packed Day!

We hit the ground running...first stop Saro for fall and holiday table linens. Then off to Sugarboo for lots of inspirational cards and paper products (and a great new baby clothing line), followed by Bougainvillea for fall and holiday floral arrangements.

That was all before lunch!

Then it was Spartina, Elegant Baby, Vietri, and Mariposa all in the afternoon! Spartina 449 had some great new introductions that will start arriving in mid August! Keep an eye out for a new product from Mariposa, the single initial grab and go gift tray. This is a great gift idea at a great price ($89). And as always great new things from Vietri (including a new line from this year's visiting artist).

Day Two - Up Early For A Day Of Shopping.
We met Mary, got her registered and ready to shop!

The day started with Yala Designs, Zodax, Peepers and Canoe. We found lots of great new fall looks from Yala Designs, (keep an eye out for pajamas and robes in your favorite bamboo fabric). During the afternoon, we did the high design temporaries and found some great new lines.
John Wind jewelry, vintage jewelry with a modern twist. We've also added a great new children line called Maileg (this was Barb’s favorite find of the entire trip).

We also got to test a new holiday candle from Nest called Sugar Cookie - it was sweet and delicious.
The day ended with new tech products from Kate Spade, cards and gifts from Karen Adams and Rifle Paper.

It was finally time for dinner and a glass or two of wine!
